Excursion Wallonia / Orval Abbey / Brasserie d’Achouffe

Breakfast at hotel. Enjoy a full day excursion to the region of Wallonia

Transfer to Orval for a guided visit to the Orval Abbey - As is the case with all the Trappists, tours of the brewery itself are not on offer at Orval Abbey. There is a mystique to preserve, after all. However, a visit to Orval is still amply rewarded. There's a whole host of activities, and a wealth of experience and information, provided onsite for the curious visitor.

Among the attractions are a walking trail criss-crossing the grounds, with information signs; the brewery museum; a traditional apothecary; and the abbey's herb garden full of medicinal plants. The Orval Museum does a great job of depicting the history of the abbey, and its famous brew.

This afternoon, continue to Achouffe, upon arrival visit the Brasserie d’Achouffe - The story of Brasserie d’Achouffe starts something like a ‘Belgian dream’. Two brothers-in-law start up a microbrewery in a dilapidated cowshed, lost in the heart of the Ardennes. After 4 decades this ambitious project developed into one of Belgium’s most popular beer brands. The name, 'The Gnome', and hence the cartoon figures on each label, is a mild pun on Achouffe, the pretty Ourthe Valley Village where it’s brewed.

Brussels / Lindemans Lambic Beers – Bruges / Beer Experience

Breakfast at hotel.  Today, we check-out and load motor-coach and transfer to the Lindemans Lambic Beers Brewery for a guided visit.

Discover the magic of lambic beers during an unforgettable tour! Lambic, or spontaneously fermented beers, are the beers of this region and are among the world’s rarest: they are the only beers fermented via wild, airborne yeast - no yeast is added by the brewers. Lambics come only from the Senne River valley, near Brussels - a region about 15 by 75 miles in size. The unusual, demanding, and unique flavors that come from multiple yeast strains are unmatched in the world of beer. Lunch on your own.

This afternoon, continue to Bruges, upon arrival check-in to your hotel followed by a visit to the Bruges Beer Experience Museum.

Bruges Beer Experience is much more than just a museum! It is a must-visit for those who wish to experience the most fascinating aspects of beer. A fresh combination of interactivity, innovative technologies, and the stimulation of all the senses. Taste, smell and touch the ingredients. Play the quiz and discover the unique collection and numerous topics relating to beer...

Bruges / Sightseeing / Family Brewery De Halve Maan

Breakfast at hotel.  Meet your local licensed English-speaking guide for a 2-hour walking city tour of Bruges (ext. only, no adm. incl.) If you set out to design a fairy-tale medieval town, it would be hard to improve on central Bruges, one of Europe's best-preserved cities. Picturesque cobbled lanes and dreamy canals link photogenic market squares lined with soaring towers, historical churches and lane after lane of old whitewashed almshouses. Lunch on your own.

This afternoon, enjoy a guided visit to the popular family brewery De Halve Maan - The brewery has become one of the hotspots in Bruges, with more than 100.000 visitors annually. Bruges – Ghent / Sightseeing / Huyghe Brewery – Antwerp

Breakfast at hotel. Today, we check-out and load motor-coach and transfer to Ghent, upon arrival meet your local licensed English-speaking guide for a 2-hour walking city tour of Ghent (ext. only, no adm. incl.).

Despite being one of Belgium's oldest cities, Ghent remains small enough to feel cosy but big enough to be a vibrant, relevant centre for trade and culture. There's a wealth of medieval and classical architecture here, contrasted by large post-industrial areas undergoing urban renewal that give Ghent a gritty-but-good industrial feel. Lunch on your own.

This afternoon, enjoy a guided visit to the Huyghe Brewery - Visiting Huyghe Brewery is a unique experience. You will discover the history of one of the largest breweries in Belgium, steeped in a long family tradition. Learn about the production process of several unique beers and try their star product, Delirium Tremens.

Continue to Antwerp and check-in to your hotel.

Antwerp / Sightseeing / De Koninck Brewery Experience (Golf & Beer)

Breakfast at hotel. On the final day of the tour we will meet your local licensed English-speaking guide for a 2-hour walking city tour of Antwerp (ext. only, no adm. incl.).

Antwerp is Belgium’s second city, biggest port and capital of cool. It has long been a powerful magnet for everyone from fashion moguls and club queens to art lovers and diamond dealers. In the mid-16th century, it was one of Europe’s most important cities and home to baroque superstar painter Pieter Paul Rubens – as many a museum will regularly remind you. Despite many historical travails thereafter, and severe WWII bombing, Antwerp retains an intriguing medieval heart with plenty of café-filled cobbled lanes, a riverside fortress and a truly impressive cathedral. Lunch on your own.

This afternoon, enjoy the De Koninck Mini-Golf & Beer Experience - The game includes 6 holes at "must see" locations in the surrounding area of the brewery. During the tour, fun facts and anecdotes about the places of interest around the brewery will be shared. During the tour you will discover the cozy neighborhood around the brewery and you will battle for first place. After the golf match, the group will return to the brewery and there you will be able to discover the interactive tour of "De Koninck" at your own pace. At the start of the interactive tour, you can taste a Bolleke. During the tour you can also enjoy a Tripel D’anvers.
